Welcome to this blog, what follows are the session notes I wrote for my first, and current Dungeons and Dragons campaign. I first got into DnD listening to the wonderful Crit Juice podcast but never had the opportunity to play the game myself. Fortunately a couple of years ago I was speaking with a co-worker and happened to mention the podcast and he told me that he used to DM many years ago. This led to him contacting a few of his friends and before I knew it I was buying the first of many sets of dice and my Sunday evenings were now reserved for adventures in the Forgotten Realms.
During the week following a session our DM would send out some bullet pointed session notes so that we were prepared for the next game night. These recaps began to morph and become more detailed and narrated, but that meant they also took a lot longer. After a few weeks, the DM was finding that doing the prep and the notes was taking up a lot of his time so I offered to step in and take over the note taking and distribution. With a potentially misplaced belief of my writing skills I dove head first into these recaps and to be honest I am quite proud of them. I'm no Tolkien or George R R Martin or anything like that. I'm just some dude who enjoys writing shit down and trying to make it somewhat amusing and entertaining to read.
Every week for the past year or so, I have been taking the 5-6 pages of scribbled notes and turning them into some kind of story. I would then post these "Chapters" to our Discord channel for the rest of the party to read. And now, I am giving them to you.
The campaign follows the exploits of Beef (Human Bard), Byron (Human Monk), Farraine (Human Fighter) and Finnegan Hilltopple (Halfling Rogue). They would later be joined by Garrick (Human Cleric), Lucian (Human Wizard) and Sigrid (Human Druid).
The first 18 Chapters were composed by the DM, with the remainder being of my own creation. I have included all of the recaps including the early, simple session summaries that are not really in a story format so that you, dear reader, get the full campaign from start to wherever we are now. There will be spelling mistakes and grammatical errors as they have been copied and pasted from our discord channel and the vast majority were written in a couple of hours because I'm very good at procrastinating and deadlines were non-negotiable.
