Upon arriving at Tresendar Manor, the party discovers that it's little more than a ruin on the surface, however at the east end of the structure there are a number of abandoned carts and a cellar entrance.
Descending the cellar steps, they discover the stolen supplies of Icewind Dale Ale! It would appear that the Redbrands are responsible for disrupting the supply route to Waterdeep and the South. The party will be quite popular when they return home.
The group decides to head through the door to the north with Byron boldly leading the way. The floor gives way under his feet. He makes a valiant leap for the edge but misses it completely with only his Monk training and reflexes saving him from serious harm. Shortly after Farraine uses rope to get Byron out of the Pit, they are attacked by three Redbrands guards who were alerted by the racket. Two of these are quickly dispatched and the third flees via a hidden door in the south west corner of the room but not before Byron tags him with a dart in the back.
Following the blood trail, the party emerges in a large natural cavern with a 20 foot crevasse spanned by two bridges. Beef with his darkvision can make out a bunch of attackers hiding in a room to the north. Byron decides that he will lure them them out by hurling a rock at them. He draws back his arm for a mighty throw but at the crucial moment, his arm spasms and the rock clatters to the ground a few paces in front of him.
In any case, the effect is the same and the Redbrands surge forward but not before Beef incapacitates one with words of power.
The fleeing Redbrand thug has alerted the camp and they are met with a sizeable force of Bugbears and humans. Despite the numerical advantage, the attackers are no match for the experienced group and eliminated with ruthless efficiency. That is all but one who in time-honoured tradition is knocked unconscious by Beef.
