A storm is brewing as the Party, aboard their winged transportation, begin their descent to the ground. They happen to notice a robed figure falling from the darkening sky they watch closely, waiting for the inevitable, conclusive thud but are somewhat disappointed when the falling figure appears to make a bargain with gravity and lands gracefully on the ground below.
Lucien swoops in to investigate but the dark figure seems to notice his approach - likely due to the huge Wyvern he's riding - and vanishes from sight. As the party land on solid ground (on the slopes of Greypeak Mountains) they are immediately buffeted by the wintery storm and quickly abandon hope of following the trail of the missing person, taking to the skies once more they guide their charges to the base of the mountain and seek shelter in a clearing of the wooded valley.
Setting up camp they huddle around the fire and proceed to inspect their haul of loot. Beef tosses a fine dagger towards Finn who deftly catches it in one hand and spins it around in his dextrous fingers, a wide smile creeping across the young halfling's face. A Dwarven belt is handed to Farraine and some spell books are passed to Lucien followed by some ornate leather armour is handed over to Finn. Many gems and coins are stored amongst the group's treasure and with each passing item Byron looks more and more despondent. As the pile of loot diminishes, Beef's eyes widen as he picks up a stack of ornate looking cards, Lucien takes a closer look and confirms they contain powerful magic. Beef brazenly takes the deck and draws 2 cards, turning one over he immediately disappears leaving behind a pile of armour and weaponry in his wake. Seemingly unconcerned with what just happened Lucian and Byron both agree to take a card each. Lucien turns over his selected card but nothing appears to happen and Byron quickly suggests that it might be broken and he should select another one but the Wizard, wisely refuses. Byron turns over his card and in a puff of smoke a staff appears in his hand, the Monk looks at it in surprise and a smile creeps across his face as a wealth of future possibilities race through his mind.
It is at this point that Beef suddenly re-materialises, wearing nothing but a shocked and wide eyed expression. Small wisps of breath exit his mouth and his whole body appears to be steaming as he shivers uncontrollably. He notices his friends and realisation flashes into his mind as he quickly covers up his modesty, grabbing his clothes he runs behind a nearby tree, emerging moments later, fully clothed and red faced. Returning to the group Beef still looks a little taken aback by whatever he just experienced and Byron reminds him that he still has to draw his second card. With all the certainty of probability on his side, Beef reaches for the deck once more and smiling, turns over his selected card....vanishing immediately once more, leaving his belongings behind.
Seeing this all unfold Finn refuses to handle the magical deck leaving Farraine as the final party member to draw from it's depths. Overflowing with brave confidence he takes a card, Lucien, Finn and Byron wait anxiously to see what happens but all seems unchanged, for now. Turning over the second card, there is a familiar "pfff". Farraine is still there, clothed, with a slight grimace on his face, he looks around anxiously like a cat chasing it's own tail. "My backpack....it's gone...where's my backpack?"
